Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Hubi brings together people who share hobbies. This policy explains in plain language what we use, who can see what, and how you stay in control. The legal details of processing are in the Personal Data Notice (KVKK).
In short
- We don't sell your personal data, use it for ads or share it with advertisers.
- Nobody can see your exact location. Others only see your district or province and an approximate distance.
- Users under 18 only match with other users under 18; users 18 and over only with their own age group.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time. Deleting removes your personal data and photos permanently.
What we collect
- What you give us: email, password, name, date of birth, hobbies and levels, province/district, photos, profile texts, posts, comments, events, teams, invites and messages.
- From sign-in services: if you use Google or Apple, the name, email and account ID they share.
- Created automatically: push token, app language, last active time, IP address and error/security logs.
The app does not track you for advertising or across other apps.
How we use it
- Suggesting nearby people with the same hobbies (shared hobbies, level, distance and activity are considered).
- Running invites, messaging, community, events and teams.
- Sending notifications (you can turn types off in Settings, except safety notices).
- Protecting your account: email verification, password reset, limiting suspicious sign-in attempts.
- Keeping the community safe: reviewing reports and acting on rule violations.
What other users see
- Your profile: name, age, photos, hobbies and levels, profile texts, province/district, teams.
- In Discover: also an approximate distance (e.g. "3 km") and whether you were active this week.
- Never: your email, date of birth, exact location, who you blocked, reports you made.
- Messages: only the people in the chat (team members in team chats).
- Meeting place suggestion: the middle of the participants' areas is rounded to about 5 km, so nobody's exact place is revealed.
- People you block can't see you anywhere, and you can't see them.
Photos
Uploaded photos are re-processed on our servers: location and device data (EXIF) are removed and they are resized. They are stored under unguessable addresses. Deleting a photo or post deletes its file from storage.
Age and protecting young people
You must be at least 16 to use Hubi. Users aged 16–17 are in a separate community: they can only see, match with, join teams of and see posts from other users under 18, and users 18 and over can't see them. Your date of birth can't be changed once set. You can report an account you believe is under age with the "Under age" option.
Security
Passwords are stored as irreversible hashes. Verification and reset codes are hashed and expire quickly. Connections between the app and our servers are encrypted. No system is risk-free, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data.
Your controls
- Change your profile, photos, hobbies, location and notification preferences in the app.
- Block people and report content and people.
- Delete your account permanently in Profile → Settings → Delete my account: your profile, photos, sent messages, posts, comments, invites and notifications are deleted and you leave your teams. In other people's old chats you appear as "Deleted user".
- For your other rights, use the contact details in the Personal Data Notice (KVKK).
Changes
We'll tell you in the app when this policy changes, and ask for your consent where required.
